Happy May Day!

April was a very busy month. I actually left my house overnight on three separate occasions! That is pretty rare these days. First I went to visit my friend Barb (Fun With Barb) in Connecticut and we went to the AQS show in Hartford.  Barb was a fabulous hostess! I had so much fun, I kept forgetting to take pictures!! We were lucky enough to meet up with our friends Laurie and Gladi (Gladi Quilts) for lunch. This was one of my favorite quilts. Just so much fun!

This is Mary Pat Leger who organized an amazing display of 52 quilts from 42 different quilters that formed the Farmington River. It was truly fabulous! None of my photos did it justice, but you can visit their website. Farmington River Watershed Association. And, don't you just love her outfit?!!

The next day, we went to Mystic Seaport and saw a few textiles there as well.

It was really a very special trip!! The following week was my annual Seven Sistahs retreat. We did things a little differently this year. Instead of renting our usual house on the beach, we joined a larger group in Portsmouth, NH that was organized by Ruth Clay. She did a great job and we really had a ball. We had our own corner of the room, but we did a lot of visiting and met some great quilters.

I took a photo for the carpet for a possible applique project.

And, when we got tired of stitching, Kathy had fun taking our photos and using her new app, made fantasy photos of all of us. I asked for me riding a Fresian horse and this is what I got. Too funny!

I'm sure the horse had as much fun as we all did. 😂

I finished both my March and April Round Robin projects. First was Ann's which was already pretty large when it came to me so all I did was applique a few little scallop shells in the corner. Ann plans to donate it to Hospice when finished so I think we don't want to make it too big.

April was a bit more challenging. Jennifer had started with this incredible paper pieced center and we were all a bit intimidated. Since it was wider than it was tall when I received it, I decided to just add a little applique (that might be appropriate for Pocahontas) and then added the border at the top and bottom to even out the size. We will be revealing all of them at this month's meeting and I can't wait to see how they all turned out. Quite frankly, I can't even remember what I sent in to start with. 😂

And today I am gathering up a few little quilts for the silent auction at Maine Quilts 2026. Proceeds this year go to the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence. Hope you can make to the show, July 23-25 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Hope you all have a happy May Day!
