So..
I have finally begun my Noah & Matilda journey. Read all about it on
Collector with a Needle’s Blog (here). Dawn and her daughter have created some
wonderful patterns for a number of antique treasures and this is one I have
been wanting to start for a long time.
Here
is my first block, quilted and bound. I have chosen to make it in the potholder
method (big surprise!).
My
color palette will be 1890 antique and reproduction neon fabrics.
I am calling
it "Noah and Matilda's Ruby Anniversary Cake". These fabrics would
have been a popular choice at the time of their 40th wedding anniversary. Since
my 40th anniversary will be in 2018, I thought it would be appropriate. I also
like to give all my potholder quilts a title with some sort of cooking
reference thus the word "cake". I modified the first block a bit by
adding the circle in the center. Mainly because I made a bit of an error in the
quilting which I wanted to cover up!
This is going to be fun! Want to take the plunge?
Hi Wendy, love your fabrics for the quilt along, if you ever decide to run away from home, come to my house because the same fabrics are here. I'm going to check out Noah and Matilda.
ReplyDeleteOf course I love your story as much as your block!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty tempted!!
I also love the change to the appearance in your blog. And you said you were tech-challenged. I don't think so!!
Applique quilts just awe me--they do not tempt me. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour color palette selection is mouth watering. I am going to love seeing this come into being, block, by finished block.
Great name choice! And it sounds like we have been married the same length of time. Next year we hit 40 years, as well.
That is a beautiful block, and a beautiful quilt. I look forward to seeing your progress on this quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour fabric choices for this one are very enticing, and so is the pattern, but I think I'll sit on the sidelines and watch everyone's progress til I get some oldies but goodies finished.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great new project! Of course I want to make it too - but yikes I have enough on the go as it is 😃
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see the neons in this project - I love these fabrics and have one or two in the stash. Always tempted by applique projects - and such a pretty quilt - will be keen to see who joins you.
ReplyDeletetempting but have quite a few applique project UFOs....love those fabrics you've chosen...
ReplyDeleteI love that your block is already quilted. I can count on you for that. You will long be remembered as the potholder lady. I am sure your quilts will be studied some day far in the future.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to enjoy following your N&M especially with the colors you've chosen. It's going to be awesome.
