Hospital Sketches #4 Coxcomb and Currants


This 4th block in Barbara Brackman’s “Hospital Sketches” sew-a-long was right up my alley! I love appliqueing little circles. I could do this all day long!

We finally had a day with sun and I was able to get a photo that better captures the green of my background.
I hope all of you are finally experiencing Spring. It’s been slow coming to Maine, but we finally hit above 60 degrees yesterday. Back to September weather today, but I’m sure Spring will be back soon. Enjoy the day!

    I like how you made this block in many colors and not a two or 3 color like one might normally see - this one is really great

    What a gorgeous block, Wendy. I so admire your skill. I can't imagine appliqueing just one of those little circles, let alone dozens! Your quilt will be magnificent.

    Oh your blocks are just fabulous.
    Sewing circles all day long? Definitely NOT for me...
    But I'd happily watch you do it while I worked on my wool applique, all day long! ;-)

    Ohhhhhh it's a great block! Spring has definitely sprung in Japan and in fact we are heading into rainy season soon. I think summer weather in Maine is THE best!

    Wow!! So perfect & beautiful! I've yet to start hospital sketches, still working on Noah & Matilda and dear daughter. The later quilt may end up smaller than planned due to all those circle blocks. I've done the alternative & will replace a few more. I enjoy your blog.

    HERPES Fully Eradicated in my family.
