I subscribed to the new
magazine Quiltfolk a while back. After reading the first issue, I was hooked. I
love everything about it. The subject matter, the writing and even the quality of
the paper (I’m very fussy about my paper).
Issue 02 arrived at my door
last week. I immediately sat down and read it cover to cover. The magazine
focuses on a particular region each time. This issue covers Iowa and without
giving too much away… I learned about the very interesting Amana colonies and
the wool mills in Amana. There is a wonderful article on the marvelous Judy
Martin and I learned lots of fascinating things about Maryanne Fons that I
never knew. And... Well, just check out their website (here).
I highly recommend it!
Thank you! I've been hoping to see a magazine like this.
ReplyDeleteAre there any patterns in it ?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Wendy !
I hadn't heard of this before. Thanks for broadening my horizons!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! The Amana Colonies in IOWA are so worth the visit if you are ever in the area!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes Debra! I just realized I wrote Ohio instead of Iowa. I guess I am. Hopeless New Englander! I still want to visit Amanda - Iowa!!!
DeleteI have issue one, will have to look for issue 2! I'm off to Ohio in a month!
ReplyDeleteOhio. That is where I was born and lived until in my 20's. I do not subscribe to that magazine but maybe I need to think about it.
ReplyDeleteSorry Karen, I meant Iowa. It is tough to get old and think one thing and type another!
DeleteThis issue is wonderful and highlights quilting in IOWA. Hopefully OHIO will be the subject of the next, if not soon, issue. I read mine cover to cover on a cross-country flight. Next time I hope to drive through Iowa, not over !!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like I need to check this out!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. I love to hear what quilters think about books and magazines. By the way, love all your little quilts. Thanks for the offer of feedsacks. If I get stuck, I will let you know.
Thanks for the recommendation! It looks like a great magazine :)
ReplyDeletewow...looks gorgeous but pricey....
ReplyDeleteYou're the second or third person to recommend this magazine. I wonder if I can find it at Barnes and Noble or some other book store. I like to see before I buy. Thanks for bring it to my attention again.
ReplyDeletewow - do we finally have a good magazine? I'm of to check it out and subscribe!!
ReplyDeleteSo agree with this, Wendy! In fact, you beat me to it; we are planning to write about the new issue this week. Love this magazine!! It's worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteOh this is great news. I've been so disappointed in the existing publications. I will look to see where I can buy it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI picked up an issue at Barnes & Noble this month & it's a beautiful magazine.
ReplyDeleteI saw this magazine for the first time last night at Barnes and Noble. It is beautiful and one of the first things I noticed, too, was the quality of the paper! Come to think of it, it didn't seem to have so many ads in it either. I think it does have at least one quilt pattern it in. It seems to be mainly about Quilt Folk.....people who are very involved in various aspects of the quilting world but the focus of the articles is not what you would expect. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteJust like that - you got me to subscribe! Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteWow, yours is the second recommendation for this magazine I'll had in a couple of days . I'll have to look into it. I love a nice feeling paper too.
ReplyDeleteI just ordered issue #2. I want to see it before I spend $75- on a subscription.
