Dawn (Collector with aNeedle) offered this little quilt pattern on her blog (here). I decided to make
it as a tribute to Dawn for her efforts in bringing quilters together with her
delightful patterns and sew-a-longs. She calls it “Thankful”. I gathered up
some of my favorite early reproduction prints and titled it “Dawn’s Early
Lights”.
There are 23 different prints
in this little quilt. The darker fabrics used in the 4-patches are from one of
my favorite fabric lines by Pat Speth.
They are at least 10 years old. The lights are pieces toiles from my scrap basket.
Here
are links to all the FABULOUS monthly minis. You will definitely want to see them all. There are some very clever quilters out there! Thanks for joining in the fun.
Randy (Barrister's Block)
Barb (Fun With Barb)
Janet (Rogue Quilter)
Cathy (Big Lake Quilter)
Cynthia (Wabi-Sabi Quilts)

And although Katy (Katy's Quilts) didn't officially join us this month, do look at her fantastic little quilt made from an orphan antique block (here).
As always, feel free to jump in any time. I try to post them in the last few days of the month. If I have missed a mini maker - PLEASE let me know and I will link you in. Happy Quilting!

That is a very sweet little quilt and tribute to Dawn's generosity and fun knowledge.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI like the fabric you used for the border. Interesting piece and am wondering what line it is from. Seems a bit familiar to me but can't place it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Now I want to make another one!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing
So cute, and Dawn definitely deserves the honor!
ReplyDeletePerfect name, too.
Love that Pat Speth collection. I just have a few scrap pieces left here and there. I never had all of it.
Absolutely adorable and your colors are yummy - love your border and toile for the backing - a sweet pattern from Dawn!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet and love your toile! You and Dawn are both such generous quilters. Can't wait to check out all the minis. I just posted mine! Thanks Wendy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful mini and your fabric choices are marvelous. It's a beautiful tribute to Dawn and her knowledge and love of antique quilts. Do you generally keep fabric lines together in your stash?
ReplyDeleteA lovely way to showcase that beautiful toile!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the link for Dawn's wonderful pattern. I love your sweet mini, and especially love seeing the toiles you've included.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt turned out to be so pretty! I just finished the binding on mine and will show it on my blog tomorrow once it is light enough to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful fabrics for such a sweet quilt. I'm always impressed at you ladies who manage to make a mini quilt every month.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a sweet mini! Love the fabrics you used--especially that toile. Great name, too! It's so nice to see all the little quilts that were made this month.
ReplyDeleteI love your little quilts. I also noticed that you use the same method as I do for creating "hangers". I have found that by trimming the corners of the hangers and stitching them down it removes the bulk from the corners of the quilt when adding the binding.
ReplyDeleteI did it! I posted mine this morning.
ReplyDeleteDawn's Early Lights is wonderful! Of course, I only focused on all the toiles you used. All those toiles in one quilt - yay!!
