Sorry the photo isn't great. This was an exercise I did a year or so ago. I made the top quilt from actual antique fabrics (c1880) and then made the same quilt in reproduction fabrics (the bottom one is the repro and is just a top in this photo). They were lots of fun to make. I had a few of these antique "luminaries" which we now call "neons" and I had a great time trying to find the reproductions!
Here is a close up of my header quilt, for a little more "sunshiny" chrome yellow.
Happy "almost" spring.
Love chrome yellow and have enough to make a whole quilt!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a single swatch of chrome yellow - going to check out my local quilt shop tomorrrow, with fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteHave fun shopping and let me know if you have any trouble and I will be happy to share.
DeleteI have chrome but I find it a challenge - good to challenge ourselves. You really know just how to use it!
ReplyDeleteI find that hard to believe since you have such a fabulous sense of color. I guess maroon would be my challenge color.
DeleteYellow crocus are up here! Love your yellow projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! Ours would have to be 2' tall to show their heads today. I can wait if they can! I have purple and white too but of course the yellows are my favorite.
Deletevery nice...i have a few chrome yellows....will have to rummage and see if i can find them...most everything else is packed i'm afraid....but i'll try...
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you need me to send you some!
DeleteI am very drawn to the chrome yellows, but rarely buy enough to do anything with.:) Very interesting to see the two quilts side by side. They look very, very similar!
ReplyDeleteIt was a challenge to find repros to match that closely, but fun!
