Spring Strings.
I love strippy quilts! Since I have been following along with Lori’s (Humble Quilts) string quilts sew-a-long I thought it would be fun to
make a mini with some spring green and colorful strips. I know most people
associate Spring with pastels, but I lean more toward the bright and bold
colors! I adore the peachy orange tulips positioned next to those dark
delicious purples. Yum! (sorry - no photo - nothing but the early tulips out
yet).
Once again, I raided the
orphan block box and started chopping strips.
The backing is the last of a piece of fabric that my husband found for me in 1986. It was the first and last time he bought me fabric!

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this mini -- maybe if I use my own scrappy style instead of trying to follow someone else's directions/design, I might actually make a few more minis (BIG NOTE TO SELF).
ReplyDeleteThe essence of a spring flower garden, right down to the cultivated 'furrows' of ground between the flower beds! First thing I thought of was my Babcia's flower beds, there were three long wide beds near her farmhouse, just like this little quilt. Sweet memories!

ReplyDeleteYour husband bought you fabric once? Wow--we've been together almost 41 years now and I don't think hubby has ever purchased any for me. But he has told me to go buy fabric, so that is just as good. :)
Okay--I have to find my orphan blocks and try this--adorable!!!

ReplyDeleteWeee love your little string quilt. I am struggling to organize my bits and so many are toooo gooood to toss even though they are only 1 1/2 or so. what is wrong with me? lol. The border fabric you used is just wonderful.
