SVBAQ Sunflower block

The Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album block this month is the sunflower. I had fun with this one after I saw Doreen’s (Aunt Reen’s Place) block and realized that I did not have to make all those little petals individually. Duh!

It went together rather quickly after that discovery. Why do I always feel I have to complicate matters? My new motto is "simplify".

Do check out the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Blog to enjoy all the wonderful blocks.

  1. Oh, this is gorgeous on the cheddar. Had to laugh at your light bulb moment. Looks like something I would have done to myself. : )

  2. Wow it is superb Wendy! yes - wish I'd thought of the short cut too - the petals were a little bit tricky individually. I've finished it ...just got to get around to posting :)

  3. I did not even give thought to making individual pieces for all those curvy and pointy pieces.
I am still seriously considering quilting the blocks individually as you are. I like yours so well and each month wish I was doing the same thing.

  4. I continue to love your cheddar background and scrappy fabric choices. Sometimes it's hard to see a simpler method, but I'm glad you did.
