Happy May Day!

It seems that so many traditions have fallen by the wayside. I used to love making these little paper May Baskets as a child. I’m doing my best to keep some of these happy memories alive. This one is for a 94 year old friend. Hope she doesn’t suspect it was me!

May you all enjoy a bit of spring today.

  2. What a lovely tradition! It's wonderful that there are people such as yourself keeping these traditions alive. Happy May Day to you! I live in Australia and the 1st of May is the start of winter for us.

  6. I did not even think of it as being May 1st. How very kind of you to make the paper basket and place it for your friend. I don't remember making May baskets when I was young. Maybe we did in grade school and it just doesn't stand out. I always wanted to do the May Pole thing but never had an opportunity.

  7. Very sweet of you--it is so pretty. A neighboring community still has a May Day festival, complete with the Maypole and a May Day queen. DH loves to keep up with that tradition.
