This month’s mini is a “twofer”!
It is my monthly mini, but also a challenge proposed by Sandy (My Material Creations).
When Sandy posted that she
had acquired some wonderful antique indigo fabrics (here) I admit I was green
with envy. All I could think of was how I hoped I could stumble onto a treasure
trove like that someday. And just like that, my dream came true.
Sandy asked me if I would
like to be part of a 4 person [Sandy (My Material Creations), Janet (RogueQuilter), Barbara (Quilts Gravestones and Elusive Ancestors) and me] challenge
to make a little quilt utilizing these fabulous fabrics. Would I? Oh yes!!
I was overwhelmed when my
package of “scraps” arrived in the mail. A gallon sized bag of 17 different
antique (c1890) indigo prints. Wow! I couldn’t wait to start. Sandy had already
given us a taste of her little blue and white 9-patch (here) – gorgeous! Janet’s post
of her little cheddar and blue gem (here) really got the juices flowing!
So, what if I could make one
using my favorite colors. I went to my antique bin to see if I could find
enough color to suit me. I’m happy with how the center came out.
I was able to find a border print (c1880) that I rescued from a mouse eaten quilt top
years ago. I hand quilted it using a split wool batting.
Normally I make oversized
blocks and just lop off edges as I work along. I am much more careful with
these antique pieces, giving them the respect they deserve. I wonder if 100
years from now, someone will find my stash of fabrics and be as thrilled with
them as I am with these.
Janet (Rogue Quilter)
Thanks Sandy, for the fabrics
and the challenge!
And, here are a few non-indigo monthly minis:
Barb (Fun with Barb) made a marvelous modern mini (here)
Sandy (My Material Creations) made a second mini just for the monthly challenge (here) wow!
Pat (Taylor's Outback) made an adorable mini from Pam Buda's Vintage Patchwork this month. Check it out (here) is is so sweet!

Great job everyone!
Wow, Wendy, you rose to your indigo challenge, big time! It's just so beautiful. What treasures, all those old fabrics! You make them look fresh and exciting and the neutral border is perfect. What a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteWendy, I just love your 'happy' mini quilt and the wonderful antique fabrics you chose to go with the indigos! Great border choice, too! So much fun!
ReplyDeleteYour sweet little mini is adorable! All those precious indigos look so wonderful paired with your colorful center and all the HST's. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat marvelous fabrics! Your mini is so delightful :0)
ReplyDeleteOh Wendy, its beautiful! The colors are stunning, and I adore the border! Thank you SO MUCH for participating in this challenge. Seeing your quilts is my reward.
ReplyDeleteJanet's will be delayed a bit, but I just now posted mine. Fun!!
You put those antique fabrics to good use. The bright colors make a good central design. I look forward to seeing what the others in the group have done.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I never even considered pairing the indigo fabrics with such an explosion of color, but I LOVE it! What a happy surprise. Looks delicious! Very creative palette and design.
ReplyDeleteI hope to have my post up on Saturday sometime.
Such a fun mini--the indigo's really make the other colors pop! I'm curious as to which wool batting you prefer and whether there is one that's easier to split over another. I've never tried it, but think it would be good for a project I have on the horizon. Love your little quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge you participated in and you definitely rose to the occasion. I think I love the center best of all!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am so impressed that you recycled a border from another quilt. BRAVO once again.
My May mini is almost done...
;-)
Wendy, you are indeed a pro at making appliqued circles!
ReplyDeleteOh and your block here is pretty special too. What a fun challenge!
Just beautiful. Reinforces why I love reproduction fabrics so much, but to have some original fabric is very special.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun mix of some of my favorite fabrics like chrome and pink with the indigo! love it Wendy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to have the push to make a mini each month. It has been very fun creatively.
YOur lovely quilt just sparkles!!

ReplyDeleteIrrespective of receiving daily oral or future injectable depot therapies, these require health care visits for medication and monitoring of safety and response. If patients are treated early enough, before a lot of immune system damage has occurred, life expectancy is close to normal, as long as they remain on successful treatment. However, when patients stop therapy, virus rebounds to high levels in most patients, sometimes associated with severe illness because i have gone through this and even an increased risk of death. The aim of “cure”is ongoing but i still do believe my government made millions of ARV drugs instead of finding a cure. for ongoing therapy and monitoring. ARV alone cannot cure HIV as among the cells that are infected are very long-living CD4 memory cells and possibly other cells that act as long-term reservoirs. HIV can hide in these cells without being detected by the body’s immune system. Therefore even when ART completely blocks subsequent rounds of infection of cells, reservoirs that have been infected before therapy initiation persist and from these reservoirs HIV rebounds if therapy is stopped. “Cure” could either mean an eradication cure, which means to completely rid the body of reservoir virus or a functional HIV cure, where HIV may remain in reservoir cells but rebound to high levels is prevented after therapy interruption.Dr Itua Herbal Medicine makes me believes there is a hope for people suffering from,Parkinson's disease,Schizophrenia,Lung Cancer,Breast Cancer,psoriasis,Colo-Rectal Cancer,Blood Cancer,Prostate Cancer, siva.Fatal Familial Insomnia Factor V Leiden Mutation ,Epilepsy Dupuytren's disease,Desmoplastic small-round-cell tumor Diabetes ,Coeliac disease,Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease,Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, Ataxia,Arthritis,Amyotrophic Lateral Scoliosis,Fibromyalgia,Fluoroquinolone Toxicity
