Humble Quilts - Sajou Sew-a-long

I have participated in Lori (Humble Quilts) mini quilt swaps over the years, but have never joined in on her mystery sew-a-long before. The first step of this one looked pretty simple so I took the plunge. I wanted to pick up the colors of the sweet little French shop so I tried blue and yellow.

I wasn’t really happy with it even though I love the Betsy Chutchian fabric in the center.

So, I tried cheddar and a more tealy blue. I have always loved this Mary Koval fabric in the center.
Now that step two has been posted, I’m not sure if I like either of my choices. I’ll have to sleep on it (or under it)!

  1. I like them both but leaning more towards the cheddar.

  2. Wendy, they are both pretty great! I'm partial to yellow and blue although I think the cheddar is great. If you want to unload either of them, I'll happily take them off your hands~~
I agree that part 2 is changing how I view my fabric choices... I picked a gorgeous toile for the center but it's NOT on point. GRRR

  3. I like both but especially the yellow and blue. I'm not very good with mysteries - it's tricky to make choices when you don't know what comes next.

  4. Love that second one especially! It's such an interesting little challenge.:)

  5. Maybe you could make a big quilt using these as blocks. I think they are great. I think it would have been good for people to know it would be on point - but that's part of the mystery right?
    love those cheddars.

  8. I used the Betsy C. fabric in placemats and it worked so well. I like the Mary K. fabric you used in the center of the second mini. I had not seen it before.

  10. I love the colors of the second block, but, like you, I would be uncertain about using it simply because of the next step. I hesitate to participate in mystery quilts. I want to know in advance which fabrics, colors, and arrangements of those two to use. I'll be interested to see what you decide.

  11. Both are pretty. I do tend to favor the second one, though, with the cheddar.
