Snap out of it!

That is what I keep telling myself. I was doing so well for a while, hanging on to the positive and ignoring the negative. But the last few weeks have taken their toll. Although I continue to quilt each day, I have lost my Blogging mojo. In fact, I have had very little screen time in the past few months. I really need to regroup and get the “zip” back into my daily routine. I miss my blogging friends!!

I have been working on my 3rd pot luck quilt, “Stash Hash” every day.

I have used up all the little batting scraps.

The scrap baskets themselves don’t seem to be going down, although I have used up a few really oldies.

I usually cull them down just before our monthly Kaleidoscope meeting for the freebee table, but I have been unable to attend the 2 outdoor meetings we have had.

And, I have finished my Cassandra Circle (Barbara Brackman) blocks 9 & 10.

I have had fun with this red polka dot background. Do visit the FB page (here) to see all the creative versions of these wonderful blocks.

Another big “bummer” is that, this was to be my first visit to Houston ever! My friend Kathy and I were going to fly down and stay with her sister. Thanks to the hard work of Dawn Cook Ronningen (Collector with a Needle), I was to have 2 of my quilts in the display of the Noah and Matilda sew-a-long quilts. All is not lost however, as we will all be able to visit the show online. You can go (here) to purchase tickets. I truly feel sorry for Dawn who put so much effort into organizing this exhibition. Hope you all get a chance to visit the online show.

Perhaps the biggest reason for my “slump” is missing my family this Thanksgiving. We usually meet at my sister’s house in the mountains of western Maine for a huge celebration. Last year there were 42 of us and the family is still growing! So… I am going to shrug off the “grumps” and start being grateful for the friends and family I have and revel in the fact that we will be together again soon!

 Happy Quilting to all

and may you have something in your life this week to alleviate the “grumps”!

    1. My ex-husband and I had always managed to stay friendly after our divorce in February 2017. But I always wanted to get back together with him, All it took was a visit to this spell casters website last December, because my dream was to start a new year with my husband, and live happily with him.. This spell caster requested a specific love spell for me and my husband, and I accepted it. And this powerful spell caster began to work his magic. And 48 hours after this spell caster worked for me, my husband called me back for us to be together again, and he was remorseful for all his wrong deeds. My spell is working because guess what: My “husband” is back and we are making preparations on how to go to court and withdraw our divorce papers ASAP. This is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you Dr Emu for your powerful spells. Words are not enough. here is his Email: emutemple@gmail.com or call/text him on his WhatsApp +2347012841542

He is also able to cast spell like 1: Lottery 2: Conceive 3: Breakup 4: Divorce 5: Cure for all kinds of diseases and viruses.

  3. It's not an easy time, that much is true, Wendy! Nothing is like it was and safety needs to be our top priority. Hoping your latest quilt will lighten your mood, as you try to discover new ways to celebrate the upcoming holidays!

  4. What a gorgeous pile of potholders! I love the yellow and rich red combination. I’m sorry about your grumps - snap out of it is good advice for me too. I hope you are finding comfort in your stitching.

  5. Hi Wendy. I enjoy your blog enormously, but this is a very stressful, worrisome time for most of us and you are entitled to breaks from blogging if you're not in the mood!!! Thanksgiving is not going to be normal this year and we just have to accept that so that we can enjoy future ones - there's still a lot for which we can be grateful. Your work is looking lovely, as always. Wishing you a peaceful and safe holiday!

  6. I think we are all mostly in the same boat. I have heard from more than one quilting that they're losing their quilting mojo. I've not lost mine, but I am feeling the loss of not seeing my quilting pals. I haven't blogged for quite a while, and maybe reconnecting with quilters online will help. Happy Thanksgiving, Wendy.

  7. Oh I know the feeling, Wendy, in fact many of us have expressed similar feelings. 'Thank god for sewing' has become a mantra! Your creations continue to inspire me. Chin up, my friend ... vaccines are on the way, and positive change on the horizon.

  10. Hugs Wendy. Your BB blocks are gorgeous, as usual.
Sorry you can't go to Houston or to your family Thanksgiving. I'm sure it helps a wee bit that we are all in the same boat.

  11. Your blocks are just wonderful. I completely understand the BLAHS and I'm so sorry that you are unable to get to spend Thanksgiving with the gang you're used to celebrating with.
Hopefully next year this will all be a bad memory; and we can go to Houston to celebrate in 2021!!
    Much love to you!

  13. Your blocks are beautiful as always, but I know what you mean about the grumpiness and being in a slump. It's like I've run out of gas. But seeing my blog Buddies stitching gives me hope.

  14. The grumps are kind of like the bullies.... if we don't acknowledge and call them out, they will just get bigger! Thank you for expressing so well what we're all feeling... I love-love-love your stash hash and of course your red polka dot background for Cassandra's circle. Inspiration on all fronts!

  15. I think we all have good reason to feel grumpy--what a year 2020 has been! I know I have a lot to be grateful for, so I'm looking forward to better times soon. Your blocks are so lovely and I know you will have more to show us soon!

  16. Sometimes I think quilting is the only thing that has made me hold onto a shred of sanity this year. Thankfully our little quilting ministry group has been able to meet again since June although most weeks we only have 5 or 6 attending. It's a life-saver for those who do attend since we're all isolated from our children and grandchildren. The vaccines can't get here soon enough!

  17. Thanksgiving is sure going to be different this year. We are not getting together at all due to the virus. It is the year that my kids would normally go to their in-laws but two of them don't have in-laws. So, my oldest daughter will have to fix Thanksgiving dinner for the first time if her family is to get anything. Unprecedented time for sure.

  18. The stress of the election and COVID, the worry, isolation, disappointments.... it is all just draining. Blogging and blog reading is optional;). I'm glad to see you've been stitching though and your blocks are beautiful as always, and it's so nice to see a post from you!

  19. I had noticed you were not posting as often. I feel like I have been a bit in the same slump. I used to peruse the blog posts almost daily but now it might be a week or 10 days between. Not that I don't enjoy them as much because I do. There is just so much to see online that sucks up my time. A lot of You Tube type stuff, etc.
I see you are still making potholder quilts and still impressive ones.

  20. I've been in a bit of a slump, too. It's just so hard to focus. Your stack of blocks looks pretty impressive and I love your applique style! Thanksgiving will be different for us, too, though we're trying to go through testing and spending lots of time outdoors :)

  21. I'm so sorry you're missing your Thanksgiving Tradition.
I think we're all in a slump in blogland. I do appreciate all your posts and inspiration. Your blocks are always so well done and I love your red background.
I ended up not entering anything this year.
I look forward to seeing the virtual show.
    hard times friend.

  22. Hang in there! I'm experiencing many of the same feelings and the cycle does seem never-ending. I'm hopeful there will soon be a national policy/action plan for dealing with the virus...and the vaccines will prove to be a game-changer...although it will be tough waiting one's turn to get a vaccine! Best of all, fabric therapy and quilting friends can be the best medicine.

  23. I was like this early on, with lots of disappointments because of Covid. Positive self talk is always good and then knowing everyone else is in the same position, you realize you aren't alone in your disappointments and canceled trips.

I love your blocks and brought up the potholder method and you at my string quilt class last weekend!

I cannot imagine having the space for 42 people for dinner! My brother, who lives in China says things feel "back to normal" for them at this time. We can only hope that is us in a few months.

  24. The grumps have been on my heels too. But I have decided to join in with a 2021 quilt along which means it is time to go through my stash and make some plans. Hoping time at my sewing machine will lift my spirits
