I'm well along on my Instagram sew-a-long with Taryn (Repro Quilt Lover) called "Scrappy Meets Thrift Challenge". Lots of little square in a square blocks made from tiny scrids of fabrics grabbed from one of my many scrap drawers and baskets. The scraps never seem to end!
I'm making mine in the potholder method (surprise 😉) and having lots of fun choosing the cheater fabrics (of which I have many) for the backs of each block. I used this marvelous Mary Koval Lancaster blue print for the sashing and binding. The thread count is super high so it makes for a nice crisp edge.
I've also finished my first block in Barbara Brackman's "Liberty Birds" sew-a-long on her Civil War Quilts blog. With only one block per month, I feel like I might even be able to keep up with this one!
Bluebirds are beginning to nest here in Maine.
Happy Spring!
I just love seeing stash pix that are way bigger than mine! Love the SMT progress and the bird too....
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace!
DeleteOh, Wendy, I love it when I see a post from you. It is so good to catch up with your doings, and as usual, your "doings" are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFrom those simple economy blocks, you made two very pleasing little quilts. Makes my heart sing. ;) Fun "cheater cloth" backings, too! I was trying to gues which cloth is on the back of which quilt. My guess is the TATW fabric is on the back of the one with the chrome setting triangles. Am I right? Not that it matters--just curious.
That is a beautiful bird block. I look forward to seeing the other winged creatures you create along the way.
LOL! It took me a minute to figure out what TATW meant. I'm a slow learner. You are right of course! I am really trying to post ever two weeks, but I just can't figure out where the time goes! Enjoy the day!
DeleteAgree with the commenter above... love seeing stash pictures. Even more though - I'm sure you'd agree - is using up scraps whenever possible. I'm going through a similar phase myself. Your blocks look good! I hope you are enjoying as you're keeping up with the projects.
