Star in the East

Finished my January  block for the Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Quilt (SVBAQ), Star in the East. I love this block. May do an entire quilt with this block “someday”.

So, how many “someday” quilts do you have? Grace (City Mouse Quilter) counted just her UFO’s a while ago and came up with 41. I thought that was a lot, so I went to my “written” list of “someday” quilts and oddly enough, there were exactly 41. Of course only 33 of them were actually started! And, this list is by no means all encompassing. I will often start a new project that hasn’t even made it to the list. I suspect I am not alone here!

In the meantime, I am really enjoying my Quilty 365 circles every morning and my monthly SVBAQ block. I am very tempted to start Barbara’s new block of the month on her Civil War Quilts blog. Somebody stop me!

  1. You are brave--I am to much of a coward to count my someday quilts

    1. I think there are pros and cons to the counting system! Luckily I'm not a numbers person so it doesn't really bother me.

    1. What's a quilter to do? I must say Grace, that you do what you set out to do. Me, well...

  8. I've counted unfinished projects and unstarted ideas in the past and the number is big. Oh, well. The applique block is beautiful. It's one of my favorites. There's so many beautiful quilt opportunities. I don't feel too bad if I miss a few during a year because I know there'll be more later on. Some times I copy them, but I know the likelihood of getting back to them is small. :0). But I think, maybe!

  9. Oh, this block is so gorgeous! A quilt of them would be stunning.
This is the year I am determined to join NO monthly SALs. I have said that so many times it sounds insincere, but I really want to make it stick, no matter how wonderful Barbara's blocks are. I will just drool over yours. : )

  14. I don't want to think about how many someday quilts there are in my pattern bookcase or already started and lingering waiting for inspiration to get back to them and time to do it.
Your new Shenandoah block is very vibrant in color. Oh so pretty. My block is done but I have not taken a picture of it yet.

  15. There are a lot of quilts I want to make someday, but I don't dare to write them down. I am hoping some of them will slip away from my memory bank so I won't have as many to make.

    1. Ha! I like that one. Somehow for every one that slips out, 10 or more sneak in!

    1. One a month is the easy part, it's fitting everything else in that hurts! Fun though!

  17. I just recently decided to get organized and made a list on my blog and then realized no wonder I felt frazzled about sewing lately. I started too many new things in the last half of 2015, lol!

This turned out lovely. I have not finished mine yet but probably by month's end at least.
