I know the entire country is
experiencing unusual heat so I really can’t shouldn't complain, but… we are just not used
to this kind of weather in Maine. I live in a 150 year old house which normally
stays relatively cool when we close it up. NOT this summer! I rarely say it
is too hot to quilt, but this stuff gives new meaning to “quilt ‘til you wilt”!
I have managed to finish a
few more Noah and Matilda blocks (in the wee hours of the morning with a window
air conditioner going full blast).
I love the antique neon I
used for the basket on this one. And, the neon reproduction I used for the
flower is one of all time favorites. It’s from a Kay England collection and I
surely wish they would reprint it!
I love this block as well.
For some reason it is very relaxing to applique symmetrical designs. Funny,
because I consider myself a very asymmetrical person!
And, Cyndi (Busy Thimble) sent me this photo of our friend Ann and her wonderful bee quilt. Ann is just as sweet as her quilt!
Hope you can all stay cool
and get some quilting time!
I'm sure you are not used to heat like what some parts of the country are getting right now - keep the fans going - I bet you do not have A/C?
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric and the blocks! It's hot here too, but what's worse is the smoke and heat!
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks. It's fun to see a fabric I use. It's been misarable here to. Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh, those two blocks are so pretty! I especially love the purple one. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are very hot, and smoky--but we are not humid, and I count that a blessing.
Boy, if you are that productive in the heat, you need to move to Arizona! Beautiful blocks!
ReplyDeleteWe are also boiling in Central Oregon--105* today!!
And I'm definitely wilting! but not quilting
It's also been hot--and humid--in NJ. Ugh! Love the fabrics in your blocks. So pretty! Early a.m. sewing works for me, too :)
ReplyDeleteQuilt to you wilt is right the Summer! Love all the neons and wish someone would do a whole entire line of them! Lovely blocks, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics give those blocks a totally different look. They're great. Hope cool weather comes your way soon. Our mornings have a hint of fall in the air.
ReplyDeleteLove that spark from the neons in your blocks. I've been inside a lot lately with this heat!
ReplyDeleteI love that Bee block - just wonderful
I've been meaning to ask, do you use a double or single binding on your potholder quilts. I am starting one which is a block of the month challenge with a group of friends.
Hope you get some cooler weather soon! Thanks for the latest neon treats - makes me sigh for all the non-existent fabrics in my collection!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, we LOVE your quilt blocks, which are beautifully done ! The neons really give them so much energy and liveliness. "Quilt as you wilt" is a great phrase which perfectly sums up this (endless) heat wave. Is it autumn yet? We're waiting........
ReplyDeleteTake care, with blessings and hugs to you, from Marina and Daryl Lynn
Both of your blocks are gorgeous! I'm in love with your choice of fabrics. Your collection of various neons are stunning.
ReplyDeleteTwo more great blocks, Wendy. I love the fabric in the basket, too. I also think you chose a fun background for the second block. Somehow, though not exactly, it seems to echo the center motif of that block.
