December Monthly Mini

I just love to wander through antique/junk shops. I can't afford to collect antique quilts, but I'm always looking at textiles and once in a while I find a little treasure. This little gem was sitting in a plastic bag in one of favorite stores just waiting for me to find it. My guess is that it was hand stenciled back in the 1980's when this was a popular thing to do. All it needed was a little light cleaning and some hand quilting and voila! It measures 6 3/4" x 8 1/4". I thought it had a holiday feeling so I chose to finish it for December.

It is with heavy heart that I have decided to stop my monthly mini postings. I still plan to make minis whenever the mood strikes and I hope that you all will continue as well. I want to thank everyone of you who have participated over the last five (yes 5!) years. I have enjoyed seeing every single one of them. Maybe one of you would like to carry on the tradition?? If so, I would be a happy follower!

Enjoy the offerings of our fellow mini makers! And I wish you a very Happy Healthy New Year!

  2. What a sweet little piece. I wish I could see it in person. There is really a lot of hand piecing in this wee thing. Sorry the mini-parade is coming to an end. But, thanks for last 5 years. It's been fun to see what others come up with,

  3. Thank you Wendy for hosting the monthly minis for 5 years! You deserve a break! I’ve participated for 2 years and enjoyed every minute. However, I recently decided I need a break from the minis so this works well for me. Like you, I’ll continue to make the occasional mini, but only when inspiration strikes! I need to focus on finishing some major projects for now. Thanks again for having done this!

  4. What a sweet find, Wendy. Your beautiful hand quilting just took it up a notch or two (or more). It is a perfect finish to five wonderful years of monthly minis with you.
Thank you for all you have done for us. I have thoroughly enjoyed joining in, and seeing what others have made. I have found some amazing quilters through the links, and have loved seeing long-time blog friends jump in a sew along. Many thanks to you, and I look forward to seeing creations from you for many years to come--mini or otherwise!

  9. Wow that is a gorgeous quilt! A great way to end the year and the challenge. Thank you so much for supporting us over the years. I would be willing to help someone, but I don't post consistently enough on my blog to completely take over the project.

  12. Wendy, thank you thank you - I loved joining in for a few of the years (sort of stopped last year). You bringing us together also introduced all of us to some more wonderful blogs. I'm sure we will all see minis popping up here and there on our blogs. Happy New Year!
